NAIROBI, Kenya, August 19- Safaricom Sakata Ball national finals will be held this weekend with the eight regional champions in both the boys and girls categories battling it out at Nairobi’s City Stadium.
In the boys’ category, Maweni FC from Coast will be facing off with Al Mujahidin from North Eastern in the first match while in the girl’s category; Coast Queens will play Matuu Sports of Eastern in their opener.
Takwa FC from North Eastern are the only survivors from last year’s competition where they sailed to the finals.
Abdimalik Mohamed, who turns for the side is the player to watch having top scored at last year’s competition and has attended several trials in the UAE (Al Ahly) and Sweden (MIFK Varnamo, Matola and Goif Solvesborgs).
He has also donned the jerseys of Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars.
The national finals are the culmination of tournaments that have been held across with the best players proceeding to the National Youth Talent Academy under the sponsorship of UNICEF.
Winners in the boy’s category will walk away with Sh500,000 with beaten finalists pocketing Sh300,000.
The girl’s, who are in the tournament for the first time this year, will have the champions bagging Sh250,000.
