NAIROBI, Kenya, July 29- Nyanza and Coast provincial finals headline COPA Coca-Cola action this weekend with games also scheduled for Eastern and Central.
Coast teams head to Mombasa’s Tononoka Grounds on Saturday with the first match being a playoff between Chasimba and Malindi United.
The winner of this match takes on Nacet in the quarterfinals. The victor proceeds to take on the winner of the other quarter final between Gulshad and G Haid.
Local favourites Mombasa United face Ukunda Youth with the winner proceeding to lock horns with the winner of the last quarterfinal between Voi Youth and Anidan.
In the girl’s category, St. Charles Lwanga face Mwaluphamba, Changamwe Secondary take on Waa Girls, Gwano lock horns with their compatriots from Mwangea and Kilifi Mixed take on Lamu in the last quarter final.
In Nyanza, Kisumu Day get proceedings underway with their clash against Chianda Boys at Kisii High School with the winner taking on either Gekomoni or Isebania Boys.
In the other quarters, St. Joseph take on Ambira while Kiandege face Homa Bay Boys.
In the girls’ category, Galacticos play Nyamira Girls, Jera Girls face their compatriots from Convenant, Itibo Girls play Sengere and Kegati line up against Ulanda Girls.
In Eastern A, the teams have been grouped in two pools of three each with the winner of each pool meeting in the final at Machakos Teachers College.
Pool A has Makindu Boys, Mjini FC and Kathungi Boys. Makindu United, Keiwa and Kitui United will fight it out in Pool B.
Central A will stage its finals on Sunday at Thika Technical Training College. In the boys’ category, Gituru Secondary, Limuru Olympic, Gatunguru Secondary and Gaichanjiru will face each other on a round robin basis with the winner proceeding through.
It will be the same format for the girls with Nginda Girls, Gaspo, Thika Queens and Kariua chasing honours.
