Chipu on the verge of topping group

NAIROBI, Kenya, July 29- The junior Kenya 15s side (Chipu), are on the verge of topping their group in the ongoing Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) Under-19 in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Kenya need to beat Morocco on Saturday to top Group B that also has Zambia and Madagascar after recording two victories on their return to the competition.

They won their opener 22-13 against Zambia before running out 31-14 victors over Madagascar in their second fixture.

Victory against Morocco in what will be their hardest fixture will see them promoted to Group A that has the hosts, Namibia, Uganda and Tunisia with the bottom placed side in that pool being demoted to Group B.

The 2011 event is an eight team event, divided whose winners shall be determined at the end of the round robin matches where Zimbabwe and Namibia are in close contention for Africa’s only slot to the Junior World Rugby Tournament.

Both sides boast 100 percent records after winning their opening two fixtures and they also face-off on Saturday.

The Kenyans will return home on Sunday.
