NAIROBI, Kenya, May 17- Muthaiga Golf Club will host the fifth round of the Dasani Golf Gala this weekend where over 200 players have entered.
They will compete for four qualifications team slots up for grabs for the final.
“Our golf course can comfortably host 220 golfers, and since this is one of the most popular events on our calendar, we expect a fairly full field,” Muthaiga captain, Steve Njukia said.
“Muthaiga is home to the best amateur golfers in the country and those who qualify here will definitely be strong contenders at the grand finale,” he added.
He said that the course is in great shape and they are looking forward to hosting the second season of the Gala.
“Our green keeper has ensured that the greens and the fairways are well kept.”
Muthaiga which is well known for its low handicaps an attribute that the captain said will make the day very interesting.
“Many single handicap players have registered and we expect to have a very interesting and competitive tournament,” Njukia observed adding that the teams of four balls were formed early enough to allow ample time for practice.
Among the top teams vying for the qualification slot are those of Kenya internationals Nelson Mudanyi, Pastor Allan Kiuna Wairi, Pastor George Njugu and John Gitonga who carried the prize in last year’s Muthaiga leg.
The winning team in the Dasani Golf Gala will win an all expenses paid trip to the Tour Championship, Presented by Coca-Cola, to be held at the East Lake Golf Club, Atlanta, USA.
They will get to play on some of the most prestigious golf courses on the PGA Tour including the TPC SugarLoaf and the TPC SawGrass.
They will also tour the headquarters of the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta.
The Gala will visit the Sigona Golf Club on the May 28 before going to Thika Sports Club on July 4 where members of Ruiru and Makuyu will participate.
