Cricket takes the cherry

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 6- With the Cricket World Cup final on everyone’s minds, Kenyans proved themselves to be more preoccupied with cricket than even the Japanese tsunami, according to Google Kenya’s quarterly Internet search trend results. Based on Google Insights for Search, a tool that provides insights into internet search trends, Kenya’s recent game against Canada was the fastest rising query since the start of 2011, with the game against Pakistan not far behind.

Other fast rising searches include American politician, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who is controversially reported to have claimed that American President, Barack Obama was born and raised in Kenya.

Meanwhile, the announcement by International Criminal Court prosecutor, Moreno Ocampo – that Kenya would face hurdles if cases against the six suspects of the 2007/2008 post election violence were deferred –  also drove web traffic to related articles published online.
