Dasani to hydrate Kenya Open

NAIROBI, Kenya, March 28- Dasani, the bottled water brand from Coca-Cola East and Central Africa, on Monday became the official hydration partner of the 2011 Kenya Open Golf Championship.

Speaking during the unveiling of the Sh2 million sponsorship package, Peter Njonjo, General Manager East Africa for Coca-Cola East & Central Africa, said that they were proud to be part of East Africa’s most prestigious professional golf tournament.

“For several years now, Dasani has been the official water for the Kenya Open Golf Championship,” said Njonjo.

“Our continued support of the Kenya Open Golf Championship underscores our commitment to the development of sports in Kenya as we promote active, healthy living among consumers,” he added.

Coke has provided Dasani for all the golfing professionals at six different hydration points on the golf course. The company has also provided water for all the event support staff and has given the organisers Sh1.5million in cash towards the organization of the tournament.

Njonjo commended the Kenya Open Golf Ltd. for organizing the event and termed the continued inclusion of Kenya in the European tour as noteworthy.

“We look forward to a very competitive championship and hopefully a Kenyan professional will emerge victorious this year,” said Njonjo.

Kenya Open Golf Limited Chairman, Peter Kanyago said they were pleased that Dasani had again accepted to partner with the event.

“Dasani has been our official water partner for over six years and we are glad to welcome them into the 2011 Barclays Kenya Open Golf Championship,” said Kanyago.

“The supply of water for golfing professionals throughout the five days of competition is something we take very seriously,” he added.

The Kenya Open draws players and spectators from around the world and so far, 150 players from 15 European countries, the USA, Canada, South America and Australia have confirmed participation.
