Chianda beat Ambira in COPA

NAIROBI, Kenya, March 21- Goals from Steven Modi and Brian Odhiambo helped Chianda Secondary School beat Sawagongo Secondary 2-0 at Ambira High in the second round of the COPA Coca Cola tournament on Saturday.

Ambira were the one’s who stole the show with a 3-0 win over Barding High following a hatrick from Nelson ‘Messi’ Nyakha.

In the girls matches, Jera Girls put Mbaga girls to the sword with a 10-0 hammering. Joan Agutu and Emily Auma netted four goals each while Eliza Anyango completed the rout with a brace.

In another high scoring fixture, Nyamira Girls mauled St Anne Sega Girls 6-1 with Elizabeth Apondi and Margaret Atieno grabbing a brace. Sharon Akoth scored the consolation for Sega in the 38th minute.

In Nairobi, Makadara Academy hit Peter Kibukosya Secondary 5-1 in a one sided affair. John Kimani put his team 1-0 ahead in the 9th minute before Mike Macharia doubled the lead three minutes later.

Macharia inflicted more damage on Kibuskoya with his second goal of the game making the score 3-0 before Tedy Osok wrapped up the game for Makadara with a brace as half time loomed.

In the girls matches, a hatrick from Dana Wachera helped Kasarani Academy triumph over Our Lady of Mercy Academy 5-1 after Naomi Njeri opened the floodgates with two goals of her own.

Valentine Auma scored a consolation for Our Lady half an hour into the game.

In other matches, Ruaraka High School and Annointed Academy drew  3 – 3 as Kayole Secondary School thrashed Muhuri Muchiri to a 3 – 0. Ofafa Jericho edged Embakasi to a 2 – 1 while Eastleigh High School succumbed to a 1 – 0 slam by their peers from Aquinas High School.

Kamukunji Academy were awarded a walk over Reuben Secondary who failed to show up. New Jogoo Road school was also awarded points after Mukuru school failed to honour their fixture.
