Barmasai wins Dubai marathon

DUBAI, January 21 – Kenya's David Barmasai won Friday's Dubai marathon in a time of two hours seven minutes and 18 seconds. Fellow Kenyan Evans Cheruyiot took second, almost a minute behind.

The 22-year-old Barmasai succeeds Ethiopian long distance great Haile Gebreselassie, winner of the last three editions.

Ethiopia’s Aselefech Mergia won the women’s race in a time of two hours 22 minutes and 45 seconds.
