Quins face first real test

NAIROBI, Kenya, November 19- The last two unbeaten sides in the Kenya Cup will lock horns in a top of the table clash at the Rugby Football Union of East Africa (RFUEA) grounds on Saturday.

League leaders Impala hope to maintain their red hot form against an equally sizzling Kenya Harlequins who face their first real test of their title defence in front of their home crowd.

Impala have picked up four out of a possible five bonus points giving them a points tally of twenty while Quins are also unblemished, though with a game in hand.

They trail their age old rivals by five points and will be out to register a win that will cut the deficit and put pressure on the Gazelles.

Bottom side Mean Machine have a chance to post a morale boosting victory against an equally struggling Nakuru RFC at the University of Nairobi grounds.

First leg action has been unkind to these two sides thus far. Both sides were narrow losers last weekend, Nakuru running Mwamba close before going down 17-10 while Machine restricted Quins to a 20-10 result.

It will be difficult to predict a winner but one thing is certain, the team that wants it more will carry day. It should be another interesting encounter.

Strathmore’s form seems to have slipped away from them after bustling start that saw them win two games on the trot. A narrow defeat to Nondies followed by huge losses to Quins and Impala in the last two rounds have resulted in the Leos tumbling out of the top three, winding up fifth.

A win against KCB at the Impala grounds may not necessarily give them a quantum leap up the table but it would give them a chance to stem the tide of disappointing results.

Third placed KCB, who pummeled Nondies 44-8 on match six, will be gunning for a fourth successive win since their opening day 22-17 defeat to Mwamba. A win over Strathmore will ensure that they stay in touch with the league’s leaders.
