Stage set for CECAFA

NAIROBI, Kenya, November 15- East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), through their Tusker Brand have announced their long-term support for football in the East African region.

EABL Group Managing Director Seni Adetu said that the company, which has poured in Sh36 million into the tournament was fully committed to supporting the passions of football fans throughout the five East African countries.

“Our support for the 2010 Tusker CECAFA Cup signals a long term strategy in which we will engage the football fraternity cross the region with a singular aim of promoting football and ensuring that an East African team qualifies for the 2014 FIFA World Cup,” said Adetu.

“For several years, Tusker has been a great supporter of sport and football in the region, and our assurance to the football fraternity is that we will play our part, offer our assistance, monetary and otherwise, to support the game of football in East Africa,” he added.

CECAFA Secretary General, Nicholas Musonye, thanked Tusker for their support.

“From CECAFA and the football fraternity in East and Central Africa, we are most thankful for the support that Tusker has extended to the competition.” said Musonye.

“Football in our region is now enjoying tremendous support, our fans are hungry for top quality football and with this kind of support from Tusker, we will be able to stage top class championships and grow football in the region,” he added.

The event will take place in Dar e Salaam, Tanzania from the 27th of November to the 12th of December 2010.
