NAIROBI, Kenya, November 1 – Gor Mahia kept their hopes alive of clinching the Kenya Premier League title after beating Thika United 1-0 at Thika.
The goal came through a penalty after George “BlackBerry” Odhiambo was brought down by Alfred Oduor after 51 minutes.
In other matches, Sofapaka’s leading scorer John Baraza through a penalty notched up a goal in his scoring spree for his team but were held to a 1-1 draw with Posta Rangers at Karuturi Stadium where relegation-threatened Mahakama caused a major upset, beating Mathare United 2-0.
AFC Leopards suffered their second league defeat after being hit 1-0 by Karuturi Sports in a match player at the Mumias Sports complex. Leopoards failed to contain the 10 man Karuturi followed by a penalty kick miss by striker Dimonde Selenge Mangili missed a penalty shot in the 80th minute.
LEAGUE LEADERS
Ulinzi Stars enhanced their chances for the title last Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Sony Sugar at Nakuru.
The win came through George Otieno and Anthony Nderitu in the dying minutes of the game, strengthening their position at the top of the table with 55 points, six ahead of second-placed Gor Mahia.
Ulinzi have to matches to count on, against Red Berets and Karuturi on the 6th and 14th of November respectively.
