NAIROBI, Kenya, October 8 – Kenya’s domination in the men’s 800m is on course with three athletes making it through to the event’s semi finals on Friday.
Abraham Kiplangat dominated the first heat at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex finishing first in a time of 1:49.92 seconds.
World Indoor Championships silver medalist Boaz Lalang breezed through his race to win in a time of 1:50.46 seconds while Richard Kiplangat made heavy weather of his heat in the initial stages but just managed to hold off the rest of the opposition to win in 1:49.42 seconds.
Meanwhile, two gold medals are on offer today for Kenya later today on the track and in the pool.
Olympic and African champion Nancy Jebet Langat and Viola Kibiwott will fly Kenya’s flag in the women’s 1500m final.
Multiple African champion Jason Dunford will be gunning for a second gold medal in two days in the men’s 100m butterfly.
