Tevez unsure about next World Cup

BUENOS AIRES, September 9- Argentinian international striker Carlos Tevez revealed on Wednesday that he could retire from international football before the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil. The 26-year-old Manchester City star told Argentinian daily Clarin he was unsure of his future commitment to the national side, for whom he scored in the impressive 4-1 friendly victory over world champions Spain on Tuesday.

"The truth is, I don’t know whether I will remain in the national side until 2014," said Tevez, who was part of the side that were humbled 4-0 by Germany in this year’s World Cup quarter-finals.

"Because while I was able to prepare well for South Africa, I will not be able to do the same for 2014.

"I am not really sure whether I will have anything else to give to the national side."

Tevez — scorer of 12 goals in 57 international appearances and an Olympic gold medallist in 2004 — reiterated his thinking in an interview with Ole, saying his body was tired.

"I think I am, yes," he replied to a suggestion that he was distancing himself from the national side.

"It is something that’s going through my mind. I’m still keen to play, but I don’t know if I can hold on till 2014. I don’t know, it’s difficult.

"But I am not saying I am going to stop tomorrow. For the moment, its fine, and we will see what the future holds.

"Right now, I can’t look that far ahead but at the same time I don’t want to stop my international career. But if your body can’t cope anymore…."
