NAIROBI, Kenya, July 7 – Caroline Nduta Ngumi and Julius T. Mururu are the two lucky winners of the Nokia Midcom Play Campaign. The two were picked in a grand draw at the close of a month-long promotion by Midcom, one of Nokia’s distributors, in partnership with Nokia, to travel to South Africa for the final World Cup match on 11th July 2010.
In a promotion dubbed “Play Campaign”, the grand prize winners take home a prize packages worth USD 10,000, an equivalent of Sh815,000.
The prizes includes two tickets to watch the World Cup Final match on July 11th in South Africa and caters for tickets to the stadium as well as travel, accommodation costs for 3 days and a spending allowance.
To participate consumers bought a Nokia 5330 at a special discount of Sh14.999 at selected Midcom outlets in Nairobi and Mombasa.
After purchase consumers filled in a raffle with their details which entitled them to enter into the grande draw. The promotion run from 3rd of June until 2nd of July.
While handing over the prize tickets to the winners, Midcom Director, Jayesh Kotecha said that the promotion leveraged on the World Cup season and is part of a bigger Nokia “Play Campaign” that was launched in January 2010 where consumers were invited to share in everything entertainment (music, videos, games, mobile TV) enabled by various Nokia devices mainly X3, X6, 5230 and 5330.
The larger Nokia “Play Campaign” has been running from January and ends in July.
