MADRID, June 2 – Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola believes Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is the best replacement possible for Frenchman Thierry Henry, a report claimed on Wednesday.Out-of-favour France international Henry is set to quit the Spanish league champions and move to New York Red Bulls, according to reports on Barcelona’s website last week.
And that could prompt Guardiola into making an audacious bid for Robben, who was pivotal in Bayern reaching the Champions League final last season, according to Muno Deportivo newspaper.
The report suggested that although Valencia left winger Juan Mata is among the "most well-placed" candiates to replace Henry, Guardiola would ideally love to land former Real Madrid forward Robben.
The only stumbling block for Barcelona, if Bayern were to agree to the sale, would be the asking price of "at least 40 million euros", according to the paper.
Barcelona on Tuesday made a "serious bid" for Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, a bid that the London club rejected.
