Nigeria fail to impress

VIENNA, May 26- World Cup finals qualifiers Nigeria gave a lacklustre performance on Tuesday as it drew 0-0 against Saudi Arabia, which failed to even qualify for the tournament in South Africa next month. In front of a crowd of 1,000 in the small local stadium of Wattens, in Tyrol province, the "Super Eagles" failed to impress in their debut under their new coach, Swede Lars Lagerback.

Led by veteran skipper Nwanko Kanu, the Nigerians hardly ever seemed to pose a threat to their adversaries.

The West African players only flew into Austria for one warm-up game and were due to return on Wednesday to London, where they have been training ahead of the World Cup.

On Sunday, they face Colombia in another preparation match ahead of the tournament.

Nigeria plays against two-time champions Argentina, 2002 semi-finalists South Korea and Euro 2004 champions Greece in the group stage of the World Cup in South Africa, which will run from June 11 to July 11.
