Bishop Njenga clinch Western

NAIROBI, Kenya, April 18- Bishop Njenga Girls of Bungoma are the ladies 2010 COPA Coca-Cola Western Province champions after thrashing Butere Girls 2-0 in scorching hot finals, at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

The stadium came to life five minutes into the match after both sides having a shot at spelled out their intentions with chances at goal.

Tabitha Situma put Bishop Njenga ahead in the eighth minute following some intricate passing from the halfway line.

Butere Girand came out fighting in search for an equalizer, but in vain, as they were out done in the midfield.

They failed to finish off their admirable build up to their opponents box as they seemed not to have possessed the magic touch.

Four minutes into the second half, Bishop Njenga Joy Wafula captain capped a memorable victory with an outstanding shot that left the crowd cheering passionately and ultimately wrapping up the title.

“I am ecstatic with the win and all the credit goes to the team as they all played as a unit towards one goal, becoming the Copa Coca-Cola Western Kenya Ladies Champions, ” said Wafula after the match.

In the boys quarter finals, Khayota Sports Center lost 1-0 to Chavakali Boys to crashout of the championship, Kakamega High (Green Commandos) scored a double against Kibabii Secondary to see them through to the semis and Ingtose High school edged out Katakwa Secondary 2-0 to book their place in the semifinals.

In Eldoret boys category quarter finals Young Talent FC lost on penalties to Kitale Municipal, 4-5, Kaptel spirited their way to the semifinals by beating 105FC 2-0, Machanga edged out Cheptiret 1-0 and Umoja FC thrashed Moi Naikara 3-1 to book a place in the semifinals berth .

In the girls matches, Itigo Girls mauled Moi Naikara 4-1, Laikipia Sports Association beat Kerotet,4-2 on penalties, Kericho Olympic won by two goals against Kapsowar and Nayasita were grounded by Bishop Muge Girls by two goals to zero.
