Copa heats up the valley

NAIROBI, Kenya March 21- Victor Cheborion, self proclaimed ‘Valdes’ of Kapsabet Boys High School on Sunday saved 2 penalties in a penalty shootout against Chemase High School to book his team into the semifinals of the Copa Coca-Cola Rift Valley Region Tournament.Kapsabet won the shootout 6-5 after the match ended at 1-1after regulation time at the Kapsabet Stadium.

In other quarter final matches, goals from Denis Tanui, H. Kipkurui and Sila Kibichi helped Kaptel Boys High  thrash Kemeloi Boys 3-1

Somoei Boys beat Terige Boys through a goal scored by Lukas Waitere in the 20th minute.

Aziz FC were beaten by Moi Sirigoi 1-0through a goal scored by George Mlati in the 26th minute.

In the girls’ quarters, Mercy Jerono scored a brace as  Itigo Girls beat Kosirai high school 3-0 with the other goal coming from Esbah Jepkurui.

St Elizabeth girls beat Kosirai primary 1-0 through a goal scored by Ruth Jelagat while  Father Mair Girls, won their match against Bishop Birech Primary with Irine Cheptum getting the winner early on.

Kapkaben Girls beat Kapsabet Girls 1-0 with Alice Jepkemei scoring in the 17th minute.

In Nakuru, Christ the King were beaten by Aspires 3-0 and Laiser Primary mauled Khalsa girls 8-0.

Laiser Primary will meet Aspires for the finals to determine which team represents the town for the provincial level. In the Boys teams Sevilla teachers beat Bahati 2-0 while Asek were beaten by Machange Youth 1-2.

In Samburu, Young Stars were beaten by Dallas 2-3, Lakers FC beat Rangau 1-0 and Poro beat Pals 2-1.

In the semifinals, it took a penalty shootout  for Lakers to edge out DEB primary school through 3-2.

Kirisia will now meet Lakers for the final match to select the team that will represent the town in the provincials.

In the girls matches DEB primary beat Dallas 3-2, Lakers Girls will now meet DEB Primary for the finals to determine the team that will proceed to the provincials.

In Iten, St Patrick Iten beat Tambach Boys B 2-1 and booked a place in the finals, where they will meet with Kipsoen Boys.
    
In Baringo, Ainamoi beat Kabaranet Boys High School 2-1, and All Stars trounced Kapkawa 4-0. In the girls matches, the game between Marigat Girls and Ossen Secondary ended 1-1.

In Kajiado, Young Talent beat Matasia Villa 1-0
