MADRID, February 15 – Spanish league leaders Barcelona's injury woes deepened Monday with midfielders Xavi and Seydou Keita ruled out for several weeks.The pair were injured during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat by Atletico Madrid.
"Xavi Hernandez joins our casualty list and will be out for around 15 days," the club said in a statement which indicated that he had a tendon tear in his right thigh.
Keyta limped off in the first half of the Atletico game and will be out for three to four weeks with a torn left thigh muscle, the club said.
The latest injuries brings to six the number of key players receiving treatment this week,
Defenders Daniel Alves, Eric Abidal and Dmitri Chygrynskiy, and midfielder Yaya Toure missed Sunday’s match through injury.
