Nairobi, 12th February 2010- Capital Group Limited through its flagship brand 98.4 Capital FM on Thursday became the official media partner of Kenya Harlequins FC with the signing of a KShs. 260,000 sponsorship deal.
Through the sponsorship, the station will provide exclusive coverage of all Kenya Harlequins 2010 home games from the Rugby Football Union of East Africa (RFUEA) on its sports show ‘Saturday Entertainment & Sport’ as well as monthly post match entertainment at the club house.
Harlequins playing kit and the club house will also be branded with the Capital FM logo.
The club received its sponsorship cheque at Capital FM’s offices from group chairman Chris Kirubi.
“Kenya Harlequins is one of the finest institutions not just in rugby but local sport. Capital FM hopes that this partnership will further entrench the club’s status as the powerhouse of Kenyan rugby and Capital as the ultimate source of premium entertainment,” said Kirubi.
Kenya Harlequins vice chairman Phillip Jalang’o hailed the move as a positive venture by two organizations that have over the years strived for excellence and superiority.
“It’s great for the growth of Kenya Harlequins and will provide a new avenue for the club to reach its existing supporters as well as drawing in new fans,” said Jalang’o.
Quins launch their 2010 campaign with a Kenya Cup match against Nondiescripts on Saturday, 13th February at the RFUEA grounds with a 4.30 p.m. kickoff.
The defending Enterprise Cup champions are expected to build on a rewarding 2009 by launching a major assault on all the major rugby titles on offer that also include the Chairman’s Cup, Eric Shirley Shield and the National Sevens Circuit.
