A prize kitty of Sh19.9 million shillings will be up for grabs at the Muthaiga Golf Club when the four day tournament tees off on March 24.

“We have continued for many years to successfully host one of the oldest legs of the European Challenge Tour calendar,” said Kenya Open Golf Limited Chairman Isaac Awuondo who received a Sh9 million sponsorship package from Safaricom.

“We are fully prepared and committed to hosting a successful tournament that will be the showcase of international golfing standards,” he added.

The 42nd edition of the Kenyan Open will be the second event on the PGA European Challenge Tour.

The tournamnet’s roll of honour include golfing greats such as six time major winner and former European Ryder Cup captain Sir Nick Faldo, 2008 Masters winner Trevor Immelman and multiple European Tour winner Seve Ballesteros.

“It is a matter of great satisfaction that the Kenya Open continues to attract players of repute and we expect both local and international players,” said Awuondo.
