Kenya fall to Scotland

NAIROBI, Kenya, January 29- Kenya lost their ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Scotland by eight wickets on the fourth and last day at Nairobi Gymkhana on Thursday.Set a modest victory target of 130 runs in more than two sessions of play, the tourists reached victory shortly after lunch with opener Douglas Lockhart returning unbeaten on 51.

The victory has earned Scotland 20 maximum points and puts it on top of the table with 49 points, six ahead of Afghanistan. In contrast, the victory has kept Kenya in fourth position on 23 points but has played one more game as compared to the two top sides.

Lockhart put on 70 runs for the first wicket with Kyle Coetzer (34) and then put on 32 runs for the unfinished third wicket.

Earlier, Scotland fast bowler Dewald Nel recorded his maiden five-wicket haul when he added two more wickets to his overnight tally of three wickets to finish with 5-107.

Nel’s scalps included Kenya captain and wicketkeeper Maurice Ouma who fought a lone battle before being the ninth batsman out after scoring 130. Ouma had started the day at 106 in Kenya’s 288-7 and his 209-ball innings included 21 fours and a six.
