NAIROBI, Kenya, August 26 – Humphrey Kayange, Collins Injera and Brian Nyikuli have been included in the Kenya 15s squad for Saturday’s Elgon Cup return match against Uganda.Kenya Harlequins backrow David Mogere has also been recalled to the squad after recovering from injury, a move that could be a major boost to Kenya’s competitiveness at the breakdown.
Michael Otieno’s side will cross Lake Victoria with a narrow eight point lead after winning the first leg 33-20 a fortnight ago in Nairobi.
The inclusion of Kayange, Injera and Nyikuli is expected to add an edge to Kenya’s attack that struggled at times at the Rugby Football Union of East Africa (RFUEA) grounds.
Joel Nganga and Mike Aung have been dropped from the touring party and are both replaced by Nakuru’s Lawrence Terer Harlequins George Odipo respectively.
National sevens star and Nondies standoff Biko Adema scored a brace in the first half with Andrew Amonde, Wilson Kopondo and Dan Weku also crossing the whitewash.
Otieno said after the first leg that his team has to step up their performance at the set pieces in order to maximize possession and not to give their perennial rivals easy ball.
The former Kenya fullback was also concerned about the defence that let in three tries.
The team departs for Uganda by road on Wednesday evening.
