Massa heads to Miami for more tests

SAO PAULO, August 26 – Brazilian F1 racer Felipe Massa is to go to Miami this Friday for more tests during his recovery from head injuries sustained in a Hungarian qualifying crash a month ago, Formula 1 officials said.MASSA_STICHES_Massa will be examined by the chief doctor of the US-based CART series, Steve Olvey, they said on the official F1 website.

The Brazilian, who has been convalescing in Sao Paulo after surgery in Hungary for skull fractures, was quoted as telling his Ferrari team he would go to a Miami hospital for the tests.

Massa said he watched Sunday’s European Grand Prix in Valencia, Spain, on television at home with his wife. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, who finished third, wore a helmet bearing get-well wishes to Massa during the race.

"I felt very emotional when I saw his helmet with a design intended to homage me," Massa said.

Although the Brazilian has said he is keen to get back to racing, perhaps as early as October, his team has given no date for his return.

Retired German champ Michael Schumacher had initially been announced as Massa’s temporary replacement with Ferrari, but ended up pulling out because of an old neck injury.
