Stars have Asia in sight

NAIROBI, Kenya, July 31- A tour of Asia by Harambee Stars is in the works on the second week of August.
STARS_CECAFA_365713241.jpgStars coach Antoine Hey said on Friday that his team will play against a yet to be decided host country on August 12 as part of their preparations for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique.

“Hopefully we can play a friendly match against one of the Asian nations. I’m not at liberty to say which country will play, that’s upto to Football Kenya Limited (FKL),” said Hey.

The German tactician also revealed that the national side will also hold a training camp in South Africa.

“Musa Otieno together with his club (Santos) are putting everything together to help us train in Johannesburg,” said the former Lesotho coach.

“We will also train on artificial turf which is what we will be playing on while in Mozambique. Then the day before the match we will travel by road to Maputo which is not that far from Johannesburg,” he added.

Hey was speaking after taking his charges through their final training session ahead of Saturday’s match against Brazil.

“There are some youngsters who have never played at this level. They now have the opportunity to show what they can offer. We also want to test our goal scoring capabilities because that his been our main problem in the qualifiers so far so we will use this match to gain some confidence,” said Hey.

Hey is delighted with the way his players have responded in training believing that he is spoilt for choice ahead of their clash with the South Americans.

“Looking at the training session this morning the competition has been tough. Everybody is involved and working very hard,” said Hey.
