EDINBURGH, Apr 28 – World record holder Micah Kogo will compete in the 10-kilometre Great Edinburgh Run on Sunday.Kogo, who took a second off Haile Gebrselassie’s seven-year-old 10km mark in at the end of March, will face fellow Kenyan and defending Edinburgh champion Bernard Kipyego.
The 22-year-old pair will be joined by Commonwealth marathon champion Samson Ramadhani of Tanzania and Portugal’s Rui Pedro Silva, who recently beat Kenya great Paul Tergat to win the Great Ireland Run.
The women’s race is set to feature Latvia’s three-time Edinburgh winner Jelena Prokopcuka – also twice a winner of the New York marathon – and 2004 Olympic bronze medallist Deena Kastor of the United States.
