Amy Schumer was told “you should either lose weight or gain a bunch of weight, like be the fat friend or the romantic lead” at her first audition.<\/p>\n

The ‘Trainwreck’ star couldn’t believe she was told this when she took her first step into a career in the movie industry, but thinks it’s a very “self-inflicted thing” because “people put pressure on ourselves and hold ourselves to this unrealistic standard”.<\/p>\n

She shared: “At my first audition when I was 21, they were like, ‘You should either lose weight or gain a bunch of weight, like be the fat friend or the romantic lead.’ Can you believe they said this? But I feel like more than other people saying it, it’s a self-inflicted thing. We put pressure on ourselves and hold ourselves to this unrealistic standard.”<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old US comic actress also offered up some advice for ignoring haters.<\/p>\n

She told the Mirror newspaper’s Notebook magazine: “I want to throw my hands in the air after reading a mean Twitter comment and say, ‘Alright! You got it. You figured me out. I’m not pretty. I’m not thin. I do not deserve to use my voice … All my self-worth is based on what you can see. But then I think f*** that.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
