DVD To Watch This Weekend :Donnie Darko

With the holidays already here, the last thing you might want to watch is another Disney related flick, that’s why this weekend you need to grab yourself a DVD copy of Donnie Darko.

Ranked at #53 of Empire’s 500 Greatest Movies of All Time, Donnie Darko fuses Horror & Supernatural elements.

 
Starring Jake Gylenhaal, Drew Barrymore, Noah Wyle, & Jena Malone, Donnie Darko tells the story of a troubled teenager who’s doomsday premonitions cause quite a stir in his small town of Virginia.

The film opens in1988, Donnie Darko played by Jake Gylenhaal is awakened and led outside by a figure in a monstrous rabbit costume who introduces himself as “Frank” and tells him the world will end in 28 days. At dawn, Donnie returns home to find a jet engine has crashed into his bedroom.

 

 

His older sister, Elizabeth played by Maggie Gyllenhaal, informs him the Federal Aviation Authority  investigators don’t know where it came from.

 
Soon after the jet engine crash, Darko then enlists the help of a shrink called Dr Thurman played by Katharine Ross who enters into a rollercoaster ride of Madness.
