British kids think Winston Churchill is fictional and Sherlock Holmes is real – Survey

We get a lot of flack about the state of the education system in America— but hey — looks like our British friend’s kids are just as dumb. A recent survey of 3,000 Britons found that a large number of British kids thought World War II Prime Minister Winston Churchill was a fictional character while Sherlock Holmes was real!

Asked about which characters they thought were in fact real, 58% of respondents claimed that Sherlock Holmes, the detective made famous by mystery writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was a real person. 65% thought King Arthur, and his Knights of the Round Table were real. Over 50% thought Winston Churchill was just made up. Blimey! (Ananova)

  1. Emoticons are cool, fun, friendly; smart phone keyboards are incomplete without them.. They encourage guys to text more. Most guys don’t like texting in the first place, probably because things (context) ALWAYS get lost in translation due to its limited characters.. Somehow, women seem to enjoy that brevity – especially for arguments and airing frustrations. Reply with an emoticon because you’re not gonna win that argument over text.. fact.
