NAIROBI, Kenya May 22 – A multi-agency operation led by National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has resulted in the seizure of a large consignment of suspected narcotics and the arrest of two suspects in Kware, Ongata Rongai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The overnight raid, conducted on Thursday, brought together NACADA enforcement officers, special police units, and officers from Ongata Rongai Police Station following intelligence reports linking a residential compound to alleged drug trafficking activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to NACADA CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa, officers recovered 43 rolls of dry plant material suspected to be narcotics, four clear polythene bags containing similar substances, 30 nylon-wrapped packages, and five additional nylon packages during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities also confiscated two weighing scales, two grinders, and other items believed to have been used in narcotics distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two suspects, who were residing in the same compound, were arrested at the scene and initially booked at the Ongata Rongai Police Station before being transferred to Muthaiga Police Station for further processing. They are expected to face charges related to trafficking narcotic drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking after the operation, Dr. Omerikwa said the crackdown forms part of the government\u2019s intensified campaign against drug abuse and trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is about safeguarding our community, our children, and our future. In line with the Presidential directive on the renewed fight against drug abuse in this country, we are taking this war to every doorstep. No corner will be left untouched. We shall pursue traffickers relentlessly until Kenya is free from this scourge,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NACADA boss urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspected drug dens and trafficking activities, assuring residents that operations will continue nationwide as authorities seek to dismantle narcotics networks and protect Kenyan youth from substance abuse.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
