NAIROBI, Kenya May 17 – The National Police Service (NPS) has condemned two separate incidents involving attacks on traffic police officers in Nairobi, warning against rising hostility towards law enforcement officers on duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement released by the Office of the Inspector General, police said investigations are underway following an incident in Embakasi where a motorist was captured on video confronting and physically assaulting a traffic officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The video, which circulated widely on social media, sparked public debate over the conduct and safety of officers while carrying out their duties. Authorities confirmed that the officer involved has been identified and that due legal and disciplinary processes have already been initiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a separate incident in Lang\u2019ata, police reported that a traffic officer enforcing the law was allegedly attacked by members of a Metro Shuttle bus crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the NPS, the suspects were arrested shortly after the incident and are expected to be arraigned in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police condemned the attacks, saying violence against officers undermines the rule of law and threatens public order and safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe National Police Service condemns in the strongest possible terms any attack \u2014 whether verbal, physical, or otherwise \u2014 against police officers in the lawful execution of their duties,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Service further urged motorists, public service vehicle operators, and members of the public to cooperate with officers and resolve disputes through lawful channels instead of resorting to violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
