NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 3 – An opinion poll released by a pollster who rightly called the 2017 presidential election has projected 53 percent victory for Raila Odinga of the Azimio One Kenya coalition party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The study by Centre for African Progress (CAP) shows Odinga’s main competitor Deputy President William Ruto who is vying on his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will garner 45 percent of the votes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Professor George Wajackoyah of Roots Party and David Mwaure of Agano party polled 1 percent each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Andrew Franklin who presented the results at a press conference in Nairobi said the study was conducted across all the 47 counties between July 31st-August 1 and targeted\u00a02,900 registered voters through telephone interviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe percentage of people with the intention of voting came at a rating of 98%, 1% said no while those who did not know is 1%,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The research further indicated that Odinga regionally has a higher lead in Coastal, North Eastern, Nyanza, Nairobi and Western while Ruto leads in Rift Valley and Central Regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe research conducted is focused on urban-based voting, due to the high network of connectivity and access to social media there will be a higher rate of voting by 96% compared to the rural areas,\u201d Franklin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Elections Act, opinion polls related to the election can only be released 5 days to the voting day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
