{"id":666819,"date":"2022-03-10T14:37:48","date_gmt":"2022-03-10T11:37:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/?p=666819"},"modified":"2022-03-10T14:50:52","modified_gmt":"2022-03-10T11:50:52","slug":"mpesa-crosses-30-million-monthly-users","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/2022\/03\/mpesa-crosses-30-million-monthly-users\/","title":{"rendered":"M-PESA crosses 30 million monthly users"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya March 10 &#8211; Safaricom&#8217;s M-PESA has crossed 30 million active monthly customers in Kenya<\/strong>, <strong>with the\u00a0Lipa Na M-PESA service being a key growth driver.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenya remains M-PESA\u2019s most active market accounting for more than 30 million of the service\u2019s 51 million customers across Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Lesotho, Ghana and Egypt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cM-PESA\u2019s success has been achieved on the back of consistent focus on the needs of our customers by ensuring that we are constantly delivering innovations that add value to their lives.,\u201d said Peter Ndegwa, CEO \u2013 Safaricom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The growth in M-PESA customer usage has been driven by the launch of various innovations over the years including financial services such as M-Shwari, KCB M-PESA and Fuliza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Safaricom has equally established both local and global partnerships that enable customers to send and receive money, and to make payments across the world including with PayPal, AliExpress and Western Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Safaricom and Vodacom are focusing on growing the service in other markets with a goal of bringing them to the same level of maturity as Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two organisations announced the launch of M-PESA Africa in April 2020 with a goal of consolidating M-PESA\u2019s resources, strategy and roadmap across the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, M-Pesa has surpassed voice as Safaricom\u2019s main revenue stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the telco\u2019s H1 2021\/22 results, M-Pesa revenue was Sh52.3 billion surpassing voice earnings which were at ShSh41 billion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya March 10 &#8211; Safaricom&#8217;s M-PESA has crossed 30 million active monthly customers in Kenya, with the\u00a0Lipa Na M-PESA service being a key growth driver.
