The money and other items were stolen from the Raila Odinga Centre in Upper Hill\/CFM<\/p><\/div>NAIROBI, Kenya July 1 – An aide to Raila Odinga was on Monday charged for allegedly stealing Sh8.5 million from the former prime minister’s office.<\/p>\n

The aide identified in court documents as Edward Onyango is the Director of the Raila Odinga Centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He denied the charge when he appeared before a magistrate at the Kibera Law Courts and was remanded for three days to facilitate ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n

The money was stolen last week from the Raila Odinga Centre in Upper Hill.<\/p>\n

When the official was arraigned in court on Monday, the prosecution pleaded with the magistrate to remand him in custody to enable them complete their probe.<\/p>\n

Police had earlier said they were investigating how the money and other items were stolen yet most of the office doors were not broken.<\/p>\n

When the former premier first spoke about the issue, he urged the police to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure they prosecute the perpetrators.<\/p>\n

Apart from the aide, two administration policemen posted to guard the offices were also questioned by the police.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
