The constituency is now known as Mwingi North.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to Iteere dated April 4, the DPP said: \u201cPursuant to powers conferred to me by the Constitution, I hereby ask you to appoint a team of experienced police investigators to undertake thorough review of records relating to the death of Manandu and interview persons who might have relevant or evidentiary material.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The team, under the guidance of Moses O&#8217;Mirera, a Principal State Counsel, should submit its findings to Tobiko within 30 days.<\/p>\n<p>Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka who took over the seat after Manandu&#8217;s death, sent a letter on Tuesday requesting that the truth behind the killing be unravelled after Prime Minister Raila Odinga made a similar appeal during the 27th anniversary of the slain MP in Tseikuru last month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe family made a very strong plea during a memorial ceremony that they wanted to know the truth about the death of Manandu. I should therefore be glad if the matter is given attention immediately,\u201d read a letter from the VP to Attorney General Githu Muigai.<\/p>\n<p>According to the letter by the VP, he also wants that the results of an inquest ordered by Muli to be made public besides the fresh inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>Manandu was shot dead by an administration policeman but Musyoka says the story that the killer policeman took his own life after committing the murder was not convincing enough.<\/p>\n<p>Manandu was 49 years at the time of his death having served as MP for Kitui North constituency (now Mwingi North) between 1979 and 1985.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 5 &#8211; The Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has ordered fresh investigations into the 1985 murder of former Kitui North MP Phillip Mutisya Manandu.
