NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 1 – The woman who was killed alongside the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ICT Manager Chris Msando was on Tuesday identified as Maryanne Wairimu Ngumbu.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Her body was positively identified by her relatives at the City Mortuary.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday however, her parents were not allowed to view her body since homicide detectives handling the case had marked it as an exhibit.<\/p>\n

The woman, aged 21 was famously known as a Carol among relatives and peers.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarol was her childhood name and we understand that is how she calls herself on Facebook,\u201d her mother Alice Ngumbu said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

She had just finished her studies at the Kenya Medical Training College, Karen Campus and was due to graduate in December after her attachment in Naivasha.<\/p>\n

On the fateful night, she had informed her sister Jedida Wanjiku that she would get home late.<\/p>\n

During their phone conversation, Wanjiku revealed that the deceased said she was to meet Msando in the city for a few drinks.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarol said she would come home later after the drink date. I knew she was Chris since they were friends for the past a few months,\u201d Wanjiku said.<\/p>\n

It is on Saturday morning that Wanjiku became worried over her sister\u2019s whereabouts, \u201cafter her friends called saying she could not be reached through her phone. I also tried in vain. Her mobile phone was not going through.\u201d<\/p>\n

It dawned on her on Monday that Carol was dead when she saw on TV that the body of Msando had been found dumped in a forest in Kiambu.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew she was the one because she had gone out for a drink with Chris,\u201d a teary Wanjiku told journalists on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

It was then that she left for the City Mortuary together with her friends and identified the body on Monday evening without informing her parents.<\/p>\n

Wairimu\u2019s body was metres away from that of Msando.<\/p>\n

Here is a trail of their movements as established by preliminary police findings;<\/p>\n

On Friday at about 8.50pm, the deceased left his office at Anniversary Towers and was spotted in company of two others persons (a male and female) at Club 7 on Koinange Street.<\/p>\n

Msando’s vehicle registration No. KCB 262Q, Land Rover Discovery 3 was captured by the Integrated Communication Command and Control Centre (IC3) cameras at Uhuru Highway\/Haile Selasie Avenue Round-about at 2.24am.<\/p>\n

His vehicle was again captured a minute later at the Bunyala Road\/Uhuru Highway roundabout heading towards Mombasa road.<\/p>\n

In both instances, the vehicle had two occupants (a male and female) in the front seats.<\/p>\n

At 2.34am, the vehicle was captured along Mombasa road towards the Nyayo Stadium, now with only a male occupant on the driver\u2019s seat heading towards the city centre.<\/p>\n

At 2.47am, Msando\u2019s vehicle was captured along Ring Road Ngara\/Juja road intersection towards Thika Road.<\/p>\n

His vehicle was found abandoned on Saturday at 12.30pm in Roysambu.<\/p>\n

Police are still investigating the motive of the murder, though it has emerged that they might have been hijacked from the city centre and driven around before they were murdered and their naked bodies dumped.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
