{"id":201110,"date":"2017-02-22T08:06:08","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T05:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/?p=201110"},"modified":"2017-02-22T13:15:06","modified_gmt":"2017-02-22T10:15:06","slug":"progress-report-doctors-strike-talks-presented-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/2017\/02\/progress-report-doctors-strike-talks-presented-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Progress report on doctors&#8217; strike talks to be presented in court"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_201112\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2017\/02\/KMPDU-SOLIDARITY.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-201112\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2017\/02\/KMPDU-SOLIDARITY.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"350\" class=\"size-full wp-image-201112\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2017\/02\/KMPDU-SOLIDARITY.jpg 630w, https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2017\/02\/KMPDU-SOLIDARITY-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-201112\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u201cThe mediation team wishes to inform the public that progress has been made in various aspects of the dispute,\u201d they indicated in statement\/FILE<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 22 &#8211; A progress report on negotiations seeking to end the doctors&#8217; strike that is in its third month will be filed in court Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This followed a directive that a report on the outcome of the talks should be filed on or before February 23. <\/p>\n<p>The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) have been spearheading the talks and the co-chairs of the negotiating team revealed that there was progress in various aspects of the dispute.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The mediation team wishes to inform the public that progress has been made in various aspects of the dispute,&#8221; they indicated in statement.<\/p>\n<p>They explained that there are certain issues still pending, and &#8220;the parties have taken a short recess to consider their respective positions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Meanwhile, the panel of mediators is taking this time to prepare a progress report to be filed in court Wednesday, 22nd February 2017.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They expressed the commitment of all parties involved in the talks to find a lasting solution agreeable to all. <\/p>\n<p>They indicated that the mediation process is set to resume on Thursday at 2pm subject to the direction and order of the court.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, two Committees of the National Assembly will Wednesday hold joint sittings to determine the progress being made in the efforts to end the countrywide strike. <\/p>\n<p>The Health and Labour and Social Welfare Committees will first meet with the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) officials before having a sitting with former Health Principal Secretary Mark Bor.<\/p>\n<p>The joint committee will thereafter hold sessions with the Council of Governors Chief Executive Officer, the chairperson of the Salaries and remunerations Commission and that of the Public Service Commission head respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the afternoon, it will meet with the Cabinet Secretaries for Health, Labour and Social Welfare and National Treasury.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 22 &#8211; A progress report on negotiations seeking to end the doctors&#8217; strike that is in its third month will be filed in court Wednesday.
