{"id":116538,"date":"2016-02-04T09:55:09","date_gmt":"2016-02-04T06:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/?p=116538"},"modified":"2016-02-04T09:55:57","modified_gmt":"2016-02-04T06:55:57","slug":"kenha-says-roads-rehabilitation-works-western-coast-ongoing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/2016\/02\/kenha-says-roads-rehabilitation-works-western-coast-ongoing\/","title":{"rendered":"KeNHa says roads rehabilitation works in Western and Coast ongoing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"attachment_116549\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2016\/02\/ROAD-CONSTRUCTION.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-116549\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-116549\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2016\/02\/ROAD-CONSTRUCTION.jpg\" alt=\"In a statement, it pointed out that there was also the rehabilitation of the KCC access road in Kitale and the construction of four markets as well as a bus park and loops to service these amenities\/AFP FILE\" width=\"630\" height=\"350\" class=\"size-full wp-image-116549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2016\/02\/ROAD-CONSTRUCTION.jpg 630w, https:\/\/www.capitalfm.co.ke\/news\/files\/2016\/02\/ROAD-CONSTRUCTION-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 630px) 100vw, 630px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-116549\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">In a statement, it pointed out that there was also the rehabilitation of the KCC access road in Kitale and the construction of four markets as well as a bus park and loops to service these amenities\/AFP FILE<\/p><\/div><strong>NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 4 &#8211; The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHa) says the rehabilitation of the 58 Km Webuye &#8211; Kitale Road is expected to be completed early this year.<\/p>\n<p>According to the authority, the road project has seen its completion date revised due to additional works which included interchanges at Webuye and Kitale.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In a statement, it pointed out that there was also the rehabilitation of the KCC access road in Kitale and the construction of four markets as well as a bus park and loops to service these amenities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Webuye Kitale road section constitutes lot 3 of the rehabilitation of the Kisumu &#8211; Kakamega &#8211; Webuye &#8211; Kitale road along the Northern Corridor,\u201d it pointed out. <\/p>\n<p>The road project which will cost Sh4.7 billion is being jointly funded by the World Bank through its subsidiary International Development Bank and the National Government.<\/p>\n<p>KeNHa also explained that the Kisumu-Kakamega section which is currently at 60 percent will see the construction of a second carriage way to form a dual carriageway and the construction of two interchanges at Mamboleo and Chavakali.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, KenHa further stated that the construction of the Kilifi &#8211; Kaloleni road is on course to completion this year.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during an inspection tour of the road project, KeNHA Project Engineer Charles Obuon said construction works on the road project will be done by August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe road project is being constructed by Mulji Devraj &amp; Brothers Ltd and funded by the Government at a cost of approximately Sh2.3 billion,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The Kaloleni &#8211; Kilifi road project which is part of the national class C road network is located in Kilifi County of coast region. <\/p>\n<p>The road starts at Mariakani which is 40km from Mombasa on the A109 Mombasa \u2013 Nairobi, traversing through an easterly direction across Mwasuma river bridge towards Kaloleni before reaching the junction at Mavueni.<\/p>\n<p>The section of road from Mariakani to Kaloleni was recently upgraded to Bitumen standard. <\/p>\n<p>This was the phase 1 part of the project.
