NAIROBI, Kenya Jun 4 – President William Ruto is scheduled to lead a thanksgiving service in Narok West constituency on Sunday.
The service will be held to honor Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya.
Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu will be hosting the President, accompanied by several other leaders.
The service is expected to revolve around discussions related to the Finance Bill 2023, with politics taking center stage.
President Ruto is anticipated to rally his supporters in Parliament to ensure the Bill’s successful passage.
Additionally, President Ruto will take the opportunity to address his affordable housing plan, which is included in the bill.
Once enacted, the plan will require salaried Kenyans to contribute three percent of their income towards the scheme.
The Finance Bill 2023 continues to face opposition even as President Ruto and his lieutenants have exuded confidence that it will pass.
As National Assembly members prepare to reconvene on June 6, 2023, following their month-long recess, the Bill remains a contentious issue, drawing opposition from various sources.
The bill encompasses crucial revenue-raising measures proposed by the government to finance President Ruto’s ambitious Sh3.6 trillion first budget. Its consideration will be a top priority for the National Assembly.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung’u is scheduled to present the budget on June 14, 2023, setting the stage for further deliberations and discussions on the proposed financial plan.
