KISII, Kenya June 5 – A medical officer at Ichuni Girls High School, Kisii county was arraigned Monday for defiling a student.
Henry Nyarango was arraigned at the Keroka Law Court for defiling the student who had checked into the school’s medical facility for treatment.
Court documents show that the student was defiled on June 2.
The minor aged 15 years reported that she was waylaid as she returned from the toilet and defiled.
Nyarango was immediately arrested and charged with defilement contrary to section 8(1) as read with Section 8(3) of the Sexual Offences Act, 2006.
He faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with the minor contrary to Section 11(1) of the Sexual Offences Act.
Nyarango, who died both charges, was said to be on duty at the health facility on the material night of the incident.
He is alleged to have pursued the plaintiff into the toilet located within the facility, where she had gone to answer a call of nature, and repeatedly defiled her.
Chief Magistrate Kimtai Matata released him on Sh 100,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount and warned him against interfering with or threatening the appellant upon securing release.
“You must make sure that you observe peace at all times and not seek to threaten witnesses,” said Matata.
The case will come up for mention on June 8.
