NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 1 – National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungw’ah has downplayed assassination claims insinuated by Azimio Leader Raila Odinga.
Odinga had alleged on Friday that there was an attempt on his life claiming that the police shot seven times at his vehicle during the Thursday anti-government protests.
Ichungw’ah however, on Saturday dismissed the claims noting that the government has more pressing issues to deal with than assassinating him.
“We have no business with your life. Nobody wants to kill you. You are already too old and we leave you to God,” he said.
The Kikuyu lawmaker reminded Odinga that it was he who is killing Kenyans through his anti-government protests that have left others dead and scored injured.
“Your demonstrations continue to leave a trail of destruction. Respect the country’s leadership and allow peace to prevail because as it is innocent Kenyans have died because of the protest,” he said.
Ichungw’ah consequently urged the authorities not to deal with Odinga with “kids’ gloves’ and use all the legitimate forceful force to deal with him.
“Raila is now a hired goon hired by the former President Uhuru Kenyatta to try and blackmail a legitimately elected government,” he said.
Odinga has vowed to hold “mother of all rallies” on April 3, 2023, as he pushes to have the government address his demands key among others to lower the high cost of living and initiate electoral reforms.
