At least 5 people killed in road accident near Keroka

KISII, Kenya, Apr 1 – At least five people were killed Saturday evening in a road accident at Amabuko along Kisii kilgoris highway after the Nissan matatu they were traveling was hit by a trailer.

Those who died on the spot include two children and three people after a head on collision.

Masaba North subcounty police commander Robert Kinywa said the matatu Nissan was avoiding to hit a boda boda and in the process it was hit by oncoming trailer.

“Five other people were seriously injured and they were rushed to nearby hospitals including KTRH and Ichuni mission Hospital,”Said the subcounty police commander.

He said the trailer was heading Kisii direction from Sotik while the Nissan Matatu was heading to Sotik when the incident happened.

He asked drivers to be careful especially this rain season and drive slow to avoid careless accidents amidst rainfalls.

The five bodies were moved to KTRH hospital mortuary.
