President Ruto has spoiled my name and I am going to sue him for defamation – Raila

NAKURU, Kenya, Mar 16 – Azimo La Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga now says he will sue President William Ruto for tarnishing his name.

Odinga accused the President of alleging that he caused atrocities against Kenyans and reaffirmed that he had fate with destiny next Monday and that the mega-demonstration in Nairobi was on.

Speaking at Mazembe Ground in Nakuru Town West during a Peoples Baraza, the former Prime Minister stated that the procession would be unprecedented.

He said Azimio’s entrance in Nakuru was to set grounds before the major event in Nairobi.

Odinga who was accompanied by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and for Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa among other national and local leaders said Ruto had accused him of causing anarchy in other regimes.

“I have suffered for my love for democracy and Kenyans’ rights, I framed, charged and released due to lack of evidence,” he said

He reiterated that his team was not afraid of arrest and intimidation from any government office holder.

‘“They may kill me but Raila Odinga spirit will live forever,” he said

Odinga said he was ready to pay the ultimate price for the sake of Kenyans.

“We cannot destroy businesses and we want to enhance and improve the economy of the country, no one should be scared,” he said.

He said Azimio la Umoja- One Kenya alliance had a problem with President Ruto and not Kenyans.

“They stole elections and IEBC was divided with majority claiming he never won, whose verdict is valid.” he stated.

He insisted that the peaceful demonstrations would not end until the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission opens its servers.

Musyoka said they have moved across the country to listen to the challenges including the high costs of living.

He said the shillings value had dropped with prices going up adding that they must fight for the rights of all Kenyans.

“We are speaking for all Kenyans regardless of their political affiliations,” said Musyoka.

He observed that other countries are cushioning their people while Kenyans were suffering.

Musyoka said the demonstrations would be peaceful adding that those planning chaos will not be allowed to do so.

“Kenyans have a right to picket but those against us have a plan to disrupt the demonstrations by hiring goons to infiltrate our cause by breaking into businesses,” said Musyoka.

He warned the international community against interfering with the internal affairs of a sovereign state to sort out its problems.

On Wednesday, Ruto said that Ondinga has been conducting chaotic and bloody demonstration.

Odinga said he was held in Kamiti Maximum Prison for six months after 1982 attempted coup but was released after the Government of Kenya lost the case.
