Ruto’s ally in Mandera Aden Noor Ali named NTSA Board Chairperson

Ali, an ally of President Ruto in the northeastern region, vied unsuccessfully for the Mandera governorship in 2022.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 4 — President William Ruto has appointed Aden Noor Ali the chairperson of National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Board of Directors.

Ali, an ally of President Ruto in the northeastern region, vied unsuccessfully for the Mandera governorship in 2022.

Prior to the 2022 General Election, Ali also served as a member of the Transport Licensing Appeals Board.

In announcing Ali’s appointment, President Ruto revoked the appointment of Agnes Odhiambo by his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta in 2020.

He will serve for a period of three years effective February 3, the Gazette Notice containing his appointment read.

The President has also made other state and board appointments including that of former Chief of Defence Forces Gen (Rtd) Samsom Mwathethe who will serve as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI).

He subsequently revoked the appointment of John Waithaka who was holding the post.

Others appointed include Jane Lagat who was named Chairperson of the Women Enterprise Fund Advisory Board, taking over from Wanjiku Kabira.

Mzee Mwinyi Mzee was appointed Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Coast Development Authority after Philip Charo’s appointment was rescinded.

The President additionally appointed five individuals to serve as members of the State Corporations Advisory Committee, for a period of three years. He revoked the appointment of Dennis Awori.

The tenures of all the new appointees commenced on February 3.
