NAIROBI, Kenya Feb 9 – Constitutional Lawyer and Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has called on former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to provide video evidence of the reported Wednesday night raid at his Nairobi home in Karen.
The Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome, has denied that it was police officers who conducted the raid, contrary to the claim made by Matiangi’s lawyers.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has also refuted the allegations.
“Where are the videos from the CCTV cameras and the lawyers who were present at the scene?” Abdullahi asked.
The Grand Mullah expressed skepticism about the raid and asked, “Did the orphans of the Uhuru regime, fearing their past mistakes, trigger a false alarm about a raid on Dr. Matiang’i’s house?” He added, “Fred should relax until EACC invites him and offers him Fanta and cake.”
The agency responsible for the raid has yet to be confirmed, but Matiangi has filed an application seeking anticipatory bail and protection against arrest or harassment by the police or any other agency.
No formal statement has been released by police headquarters or the DCI headquarters regarding the raid, but sources suggest it may be connected to the Ruaraka land scandal.
