NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 25 – A notorious gangster behind a series of robberies in Dandora is among four suspected thugs killed by police Wednesday morning in separate incidents a new war on armed crime in Nairobi.

Police said he always wore a face mask while on his robbery mission to avoid being detected.

Victims told police he was always on his mas while on “duty”.

He was confronted in Dandora in the morning hours as he and others attacked and robbed pedestrians of their cash and other valuables.

Police said they recovered a pistol from him while his accomplices managed to escape from him.
A total of three pistols were Wednesday morning recovered from the four slain men in the war on crime.

The police argue the weapons have been used in committing crimes in the city and that ballistic tests will tell more.

Another shooting incident happened in Shauri Moyo area where two suspects were mowed down by police bullets in a botched robbery.

Police said the two were part of a gang that had been attacking and robbing pedestrians at about 5 am when an alarm was raised.

A fourth suspect was killed in Kasarani area where he and his accomplices who however managed to escape had allegedly been attacking pedestrians.

Most of the victims are all young men who had armed themselves illegally to terrorise innocent Kenyans, police said.

More police have been deployed to the city streets to tame crime incidents.

Police say the gangs are armed and ready to harm and always advise victims to cooperate with them.
