Five people killed in Nakuru-Gilgil Road accident

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 26 – Five people were on Thursday morning killed in a road accident along the Nakuru-Gilgil Highway.

According to police, the dawn accident which occurred at around 5.00am near Kikopey trading center involved two matatus and lorry.

Officers say the two matatus rammed onto a lorry stalled along the lane towards Nairobi direction.

“Our preliminary investigations indicate that two matatus belonging to Nairobi and Mololine Bus Companies rammed onto a lorry that was stalled along the climbing lane facing towards Nairobi direction,” a police report stated

The police appealed the motorists and road users to adhere to the traffic rules with legal speed required and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.

“We appeal to motorists and all road users to adhere to traffic rules by driving within the legal speed limits, refraining from driving under influence of alcohol and any other form of recklessness on the road,” report stated.
