NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 9 – Capital FM has partnered with the Kenya Red Cross and Carrefour in a Sh7 million Famine Relief drive to assist more than 6,000 families affected by drought.
According to Group Commercial Director Farida Idris, those affected will receive food donations under the ‘Save a Life’ initiative.’
“As Capital FM, we are very pleased to be part of this initiative to help those affected by the current drought and we will put a lot of effort in ensuring that those affected are looked after,” she stated.
Kenya Red Cross Society Secretary General Asha Mohammed called on Kenyans either individuals or entities to come together and save lives.
“I want to call upon every Kenyan, whether individuals or entities to come together in our usual humanitarian spirit and save lives. Drought is not over, we need to take care of our brothers and sisters facing the hunger crisis across the country,” she said.
Asha said that more Kenyans are being affected by the ongoing drought, hence encouraging Kenyans to come out and support the affected families especially during this festive season.
Asha stated that in collaboration with Capwell Industries, they have prepared food packages containing essentials such as maize meal flour, rice and green grams saying that the relief hampers will be sold at a subsidized price of Sh599.
