Myspace real estate firm reaches out to the disabled in Isiolo

ISIOLO, Kenya, Dec 18 – Myspace properties, a local real estate firm with a footprint in Nairobi and the coast, has extended support to the disabled targeting persons with hearing impairments in its latest Corporate Social Responsibility outreach.

The latest beneficiary, Daniel, who is an Isiolo-based electrician received hearing aids marking a turnaround in his life following an intervention by Myspace Properties through its founder and CEO Mwenda Thuranira.

“Hearing is often taken for granted by normal people because people don’t understand how privileged they are to hear. I hope we can all participate and help people who are in need. The smile on his face when he heard people talking was heart-warming and I hope people understand how important it is to have such blessings,” Thuranira stated.

Government statistics indicate over 187,818 people live with hearing disability in Kenya, most of them in rural and unprivileged communities.

Thuranira noted that assistive devices remain out of reach for most people with various impairments due to the high cost and unavailability in local markets.

“Social acceptance and aid should motivate people to help others living with disabilities to shape the society to be a better place for all,” he appealed.
