Police identify ringleader of attack in primary school in Dadaab

KISII, Kenya, Jan 7 – Police have identified Maulid Bilal as the ringleader of an Al Shabaab militant group that attempted an attack at a primary school in Saretho, Daadab.

In a statement to newsrooms on Police described Bilal as the chief agitator of a gang of criminals who have been causing havoc in Fafi and Hulugho in Garissa.”

Four pupils were killed this morning, while two others were left nursing injuries after the militants were cornered by the KDF Special Forces who thwarted their plan to storm Saretho Primary School.

Deputy County Commissioner Kibet Bowen had earlier confirmed that the attackers were also targeting the Saretho Communication Mast which is housed within the Saretho Police Post.

He said police officers gunned down two suspected militants as the eight others fled when they realised they were overpowered.

Police has appealed to the public to be vigilant and alert security agencies of the whereabouts of Bilal who prior to joining Al Shabaab was a Madrassa teacher at Tumtish and Garabey.
